Third year has begun and it's actually looking very promising. This year seems to be all about helping us get out into industry once we leave university.
1st semester seems to be heavily weighted towards negotiation phase 1, so having our pitch ready for our group animation. Alongside our 6,000 word dissertation and Showreel and Engagement module (the chance to build our individual portfolios and create a name for ourselves within the industry.)

I am excited to work in a group and have a whole year to create an animation, as we now have the chance to have a completely finished animation short. I want something to be proud of! As soon as the brief for this project came out I knew I wanted to work in 2D animation. Story is not my forte but I knew I wanted the animation to be visually exciting, leaning more towards a character based story so that I got the chance to animate well. Here's a Pinterest board I made, whilst in the ideation phase of the project, https://www.pinterest.co.uk/alicegain/negotiated-project/
I had also begun the Halle Orchestra Project in the first few weeks of Uni and was excited to get into this project, the story line was very exciting and again would add a lot to my portfolio. Sadly the project fell flat due to timing and negative peer opinions. But it did give me more of a push into the Negotiated Project to make it work. I contacted James Lawson about joining him for a team (as we worked well together last year) and then we spoke about others that we knew were interested and best suited to eachother. So I decided to make a facebook group. Which included, James Lawson, Leah Pierson, Rowena Headley and Harry Mayers. Everyone seemed interested in this group set-up and we had our first meeting a few days later.
Our first meeting was on the 9th of October. James took a strong role when it came to story, we went through his ideas and bounced off one another, adding more scenarios into the mix. Characters we liked/disliked etc. I typed up everything we spoke about in the meeting, so everyone was able to go over the notes as any point and this gave us a clear starting point for the project.

After this meeting, Harry James and Rowena posted a lot of concept work into the group chat we had a lot of ideas floating around and a steady flow of it between the 9th and the 16th of October. On the 16th we had our second meeting. James had been working on a script for a week or so and showed us his 2nd draft. We did a script-breakdown, which I typed up for everyone to use when they needed to.

After this meeting we decided we needed somewhere to have all our work so it was easy to find for the whole group. Rowena set-up a Trello account for the group and we all joined. I then set-up a Google Drive for the group, making sure everything we had done so far had been uploaded. We were now an official group!
